Look at us!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Look. People are spewing words of hate, speaking death over our country and it’s future, laughing and mocking others around them, shaming those that voted one way or another– it’s brutal.
And the craziest part is? We are doing it in the name of the very thing we are claiming to stand against!!! We say we are fighting for the minority, the less than, those that were silenced and yet our words SCREAM of hate, judgement and fear.
While yes, this has everything to do with the election, it also has everything NOT to do with the election. Here’s a reality check for you: YOU AND I HAVE TO LIVE TOGETHER IN THE SAME WORLD AFTER THIS.
Regardless of whether you’re celebrating or whether you’re mourning the results, we now have to link arms so that we can focus on the BIGGER picture at hand. We now have to GET OVER OURSELVES so that we can actually fight for the issues that matter.
I know this may shock you, but your shaming and your name-calling and your refusal to participate in the future of all governmental actions due to the election is completely ridiculous. Maybe I’m delusional but I do not see how that helps ANYONE including you!!!
If you are ecstatic, I celebrate with you. If you are deeply saddened, I mourn with you. But I do not and will not give either person a pass to now shame another because of so.
Beyond your political affiliation, you are an American. And you live in America (unless you plan on moving). And you want unity. And you appreciate your freedom. And you pray for change. And you believe God’s promises. And you deeply yearn for equality.
Don’t we all? Isn’t that what we want?
I suppose I’m asking for us to stop shooting arrows at one another and recognize the true war. Please save your ammo, we need that for true evil.
But until then? I pray that you remember that if you are spending your words or your energy or your time in a way that does not add to the mutual edification of our country and the journey towards peace and unity we ALL desperately hope to attain, THEN YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM.
Get on board.
“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” -Ephesians 4:32
