Build your ark & trust your Jesus.

Oh how easy it is to say– but to do? To believe and push through? Well that is a far different notion.

You see, I think if you ask anyone, and I mean after you peel a few layers back, what their dreams are, they would shock you. Some might be more obvious as those people have pursued them and boldly declared what God has placed inside of them. While others? They have managed to continually stuff down those thoughts every time they peep their head up asking for a little airtime.

Because you know what? “Chase your dreams” is a romantic Pinterest quote but my gosh if isn’t way more difficult, way less “dreamy” (for lack of a better word) and dressed up like hard work and a little fear.

I asked myself this question the other day and struggled to answer- If I would’ve been Noah, would I have built the ark?

It had NEVER rained before God asked Him to do that. I’m talkin’, like not a drop. NOTHIN’!!!
But the Lord asked Him to build an ark. Why? Because He wanted to build His faith. He wanted to show Him His power.

It wasn’t about Noah doing something extravagant and people being amazed; it was about God being glorified and Noah being amazed. He wanted to show His faithfulness but Noah had to show up and bring the wood in order to see the miracle.

Here’s the reality: You may not receive the luxury of reassurance from others upon your leap of faith. They may call you crazy. They may say it seems out of reach. They may chirp and say, “Be logical, be reasonable!”

But isn’t that the whole thing? That we take the leap of faith holding His hand and not theirs? That we believe God for who He says He is despite how irrational our courage sometimes feels?

Honestly, if we are basing things off logical thinking and precedent, the Bible would be a very short book.

But God is all about making something miraculous from the mundane and the mediocre.

Build your ark and trust your Jesus.

“Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him: “I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you and with every living creature that was with you—the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you—every living creature on earth. I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.” -Genesis 9:8-11

I have always known how important it is to start your day in ways that provide energy, strength, and focus for the hours that follow…but it felt so difficult. It required some changing of habits and some rearranging of my schedule. It...

Goodbye to guilt & receive His grace.
Goodbye to guilt & receive His grace.

I used to believe that guilt was holy in a way. It showed that I knew what Jesus was asking of me in a moment or that I knew something I should’ve done or been, and I regretted not being/seeing/doing that. Maybe it’s guilt over not being the best daughter you can be. Or brother, wife, husband, friend, sister, etc. Maybe it’s those words you said about a coworker in the heat of the moment that you didn’t...

Speak them out loud.
Speak them out loud.

May 29, 2018

I remember sitting in a conference a couple years ago and the speaker said, “Tell yourself out loud! Speak it over yourself but give it volume!” And I’m thinking, “I have never done that, consistently at least.” I was also thinking, “Is that like a true difference-maker? The whole giving it volume, making sure your own ears hear it thing?” Well, joke’s on me because I have noticed, over the big and the small things, that when I...
