A piece of beauty advice free of charge for all my brothas & sistas:
Want to feel better on the outside and have that “glow” that your new bronzer promised but didn’t provide? Guys, maybe substitute bronzer for protein shakes? Work with me here.
Anywho, the best way to do that is…
Fix the inside.
One of my favorite sayings is: You must draw a circle around yourself and fix that before you can go fixing other circles.
Now, don’t twist this. That doesn’t mean that you get perfect and then you start changing the world.
And it also doesn’t mean that improving our outer appearance or circumstances should ever be our priority.
This just means that if you want to improve your appearance, your impact, your success on the outside and it actually have a lasting impact, you must fix the inside first.
Have you ever been in a group of people and someone begins to open up with their story and you’re completely baffled that that was what was going on in the inside of them?
They properly polish their glass every morning yet the inside is filled with dirt and grime.
And guess what? No matter how pretty a cup is, it can’t be used if the inside is not clean.
The same is with us and Jesus.
We can work on the outside of us all day long. We can have the perfect hair, get the newest iPhone and paint a white picket fence.
We can even go all out and have 2 1/2 kids!
But no matter what the outside of our lives and our houses look like, the inside is what matters.
Yes, a pretty cup can still sit on the shelf and serve as a piece of pottery! Maybe a nice decoration.
But that’s the extent of it.
The nitty-gritty, heavily involved uses that it could experience? Well its’ insides prevent it from even being considered.
If you want to do big things for God, you have to be real with yourself first.
How does the inside of your cup look?
I PROMISE you that when you clean the inside out and you give it the love and attention that it deserves, the outside will reflect that as well.
Fix your circle! Clean your cup. The rest will follow suit
“Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.” -Matthew 23:25-28
“The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” -1 Samuel 16:7
