“God doesn’t want something from us, He only wants us.” -C.S. Lewis
Just us. As we are, with all our brokenness and all our struggles, He just wants us to come to the table.
And as we sit down and we participate in the conversation around us, enjoy the food before us and rest in the place set for us, we find comfort. There, we find grace. There, we find a place that feels like home.
Sitting at this table surrounded by friends last night, I thought to myself, “This…This must be what He means when He tells us to gather.”
I forgot about where I was beforehand or where I had to be afterwards because my heart was consumed with the present. Those who were mere acquaintances quickly became friends. The food was delightful and all were welcome to share and be and experience and taste His goodness.
Friends, don’t you think Jesus wants this for us all the time? That maybe He calls us to come and gather because He knows the rest we will find there?
So as we start this week and as we begin our Monday, can we remember this table mindset? In your moments of weariness and exhaustion, come to His table. Sit with Jesus. Feast on His word, share your heart with Him and let Him fill you up. Lay down what isn’t yours to carry and pick up His grace for it always satisfies.
Have a magical Monday, friends!!!
“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” -Hebrews 10:24-25
