Dig in or Keep dreamin’.

Cleerely Stated IG #44-01

“Hey Jesus, I’m struggling with the whole patience thing. Can you help me with that?”

And just like that, we lift up our desire, fold it up in a little ball and send it His way, expecting it to be cashed in right away.

And then as life continues and we find ourselves in the same predicament, reacting the same way, struggling with the same issues and unable to control our emotions, we get frustrated and confused.

No way we would expect for God to change us if we offer no sacrifice in return? Of course we do! We want the goal without the practice, the dream without the discipline, the result without the diligence…we are lazy!

We treat Him like a vending machine, selfishly pushing buttons of what we do want and giving pennies in exchange.

But ALL He wants is us. Our time. He wants our attention. He wants us to give Him more than five minutes right before we devour our food. Why? Because He KNOWS that the only way one is changed from the inside out is spending time with Him.

Want more gentleness? Self-control? Patience? Kindness? You’re gonna have to dig in and go deep. You are going to have to sacrifice some of your “Me time” and replace it with some “Jesus time”. I promise you will start to react differently, pray differently, understand differently, see differently…because He will be greater within you than He who is in this world.

That’s the power you already have, you just have to realize it and CHOOSE Him in the moment. Let Him help you. Let Him guide you. Let Him remind you that time with Him is never idle or ill-spent, it is the only source for true and abundant life.

He isn’t your last resort, He is your ONLY hope.

“All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.” -2 Timothy 3:16-17

Short and sweet— whatcha been doing this morning? Have you developed a healthy routine when your mind wakes up and your feet hit the floor that will ensure a peaceful and productive rest of your day? I have always known how important it is to start your day in ways that provide energy, strength, and focus for the hours that follow…but it felt so difficult. It required some changing of habits and some rearranging of my schedule. It...

Goodbye to guilt & receive His grace.
Goodbye to guilt & receive His grace.

I used to believe that guilt was holy in a way. It showed that I knew what Jesus was asking of me in a moment or that I knew something I should’ve done or been, and I regretted not being/seeing/doing that. Maybe it’s guilt over not being the best daughter you can be. Or brother, wife, husband, friend, sister, etc. Maybe it’s those words you said about a coworker in the heat of the moment that you didn’t...

Speak them out loud.
Speak them out loud.

I remember sitting in a conference a couple years ago and the speaker said, “Tell yourself out loud! Speak it over yourself but give it volume!” And I’m thinking, “I have never done that, consistently at least.” I was also thinking, “Is that like a true difference-maker? The whole giving it volume, making sure your own ears hear it thing?” Well, joke’s on me because I have noticed, over the big and the small things, that when I...
