Flourish, that is what you’ll do.

What does that really mean?

The dictionary defines “flourish” as: “To grow or develop in a healthy or vigorous way, especially as the result of a particularly favorable environment.”

That last part– did you read that? “Especially as the result of a particularly favorable environment”. Yes. Right.

You see, this is where I think we get it wrong. We see this and we assume that means that this environment is one that easily provides worldly success– i.e. Sustainable workplace, active athletic career, thriving academic status, luxurious home, etc.

While these may be byproducts (none of which are bad!!!!) of a favorable environment, what REALLY causes us to flourish is being in the palm of His hand.

I think that’s the environment we should esteem as successful, as our “goals”, right?

I’m not sure where you’re at in your life. Maybe you have set your goals high and they have been accomplished in a timely manner; maybe you had a life planned in your head and everything has gone quite the opposite of what you thought- I’m not sure.

But of THIS I can promise you with full certainty: you WILL flourish when you live with awareness of being in the Potter’s hand. When you walk by faith, knowing that He will provide no matter how it looks on the outside. When you walk by faith, trusting that He is good despite the bad things that have happened to you. When you walk by faith, praying continuously, even when things don’t happen in your timing. When you walk by faith, because you know, after all, what else is there to live for?

Hold on, friend! I’m excited for you because I know you are being refined for His glory and that is flourishing in my book.

“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.” -Psalm 1:1-3

Happy Sunday!
