I declare today is a good day.

You must watch this. Right now. Before you start your day!

First off, Jessica–can we be friends?! You seem like my type. Seriously though, how awesome is she!??!

Second off, I am obsessed with the fact that she is so specific. “I like my hair!” (hand jab for emphasis) “I like my hair clips!” (hand jab for emphasis).

Lastly, you and I should probably do that this morning, right? It’s Monday, we have a long week ahead and some of us have already decided to take the dark cloud to work/school/dropping the kids off/wherever we are heading this morning.

Why you gonna do that to yourself?!

Don’t do that! It’s time you start your day with gratitude, refocus your mind and be intentional with your thoughts. Your circumstances are only as powerful and as defeating as you choose them to be!

One of my favorite ways to do this is to literally take scriptures and declare them over myself and my day. I know this may feel cheesy or contrived at first but here’s the reality- God’s word never returns void. Regardless of how you feel in this moment, these words are true for you.

Be proactive. Speak life and recognize that your mind and your tongue are rutters, directing how you will take on this day. Suit up ☺

I speak God’s word over my life and hearing the Word increases my faith (Romans 10:17).

I ask God to set a guard over my mouth. He keeps watch over the door of my lips (Psalm 141:3).

Today I will press on, forgetting those things which are behind me and reaching forward to those things which are ahead. I am pressing towards the goal for the prize of eternity with Jesus (Philippians 3:13-14).

I am being strengthened with all power according to His might. I have great endurance and patience (Colossians 1:11).

God has not given me a spirit of fear. Rather, He has given me one of power, love, and self-discipline (2 Timothy 1:7).

Even when my world feels out of control, I will choose to trust in Him because His ways are higher than my ways and His thoughts are higher than my thoughts (Isaiah 55:9).

My ways please the Lord and He makes even my enemies to be at peace with me (Proverbs 16:7).

God instructs me in the way that I should go, whether to the left or to the right. When He whispers instruction, I obey and am confident in where He is leading me. (Isaiah 30:21)

My mind is steadfast. He keeps me in perfect peace because I trust in Him (Isaiah 26:3).

I am anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving I let my requests be made known to God. And His peace, which transcends all understanding, will guard my heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7).

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philippians 4:13)

I speak kind words that are sweet to the soul and healing to the bones (Proverbs 16:24).

The Lord has chosen me for Himself as His special treasure (Psalm 135:4).

Today is going to be a GREAT day! All of those declarations that you just spoke over yourself are not just words, they breathe LIFE & hope into you.

Believe it! Maybe you need to throw in a few arm jabs like our girl, Jessica. Or write them down on notecards and say them while you drive. Or store them on your phone and read them instead of checking Instagram. Or write them on a sticky note and stick it on your desk.

Whatever works for you, do that.

Praying for you, knowing that the best is YET to come.
