deuteronomy 31-6

I think at different times in our lives, certain truths hit our heartstrings differently than they usually would.

It’s like when you read a scripture during one chapter of your life, it means one thing.

And the next chapter? It holds a brand new meaning.

Because as we grow, as we mature, as we learn, as we become more aware of who we are, our interpretations of everything change with us.

There has been a truth that has been hammered into my mind and heart for the past couple of months and I just want to remind you of it too.

While seemingly elementary, I believe this truth is a radical life-changer and a necessity to our daily lives.

Jesus says, “I will NEVER leave you nor forsake you.” –Hebrews 13:5

You know this already, right?

You do?

Me too!

Well then, why are you and I living as if we do not?

That’s the question I found myself in when I was reminded of this verse over and over.

I think the reason why we live in a way that does not coincide with what we believe is because it would cause us to change the way we are living.

If we pretend to be ignorant, than we don’t have to be held accountable, right?

Absolutely 19038206% false.

Jesus has promised us, “I will NOT leave you. Ever! Not once. No matter what you do, I am here to stay.”

Now imagine yourself as you prepare to enter your day and are faced with a difficult situation, does worry steal your focus and fear captivate your thoughts?

Does life seem to have a way of hitting you with everything all at once and you feel as though NO ONE understands?

Or is God asking you to take a big step of faith and you are still there, on the brink of takeoff saying, “I am scared to go to this new place or new Bible Study or new job or new group of friends etc.”?

Well now let me ask you this: Would you act or respond differently if you had the King of Kings physically standing by your side, walking in before you, preparing your steps, and watching your back as you move forward?

I think we all would live differently.

The thing is: We DO have the King of Kings by our side, every moment of every day.

He may not be in the flesh, but isn’t that the point of faith? To believe deeply in the unseen?

I think Jesus promises us that He will never leave us over and over again because as human beings, we have an innate and deeply ingrained need to belong.

So, naturally, us being the crazies that we are, we search for it in every single place that it is not when we have already been told where it is!

I feel like God is up there saying, “HELLLLO!!!!!!!!! ME!!!!!!! I TOLD YOU, ME!!! THAT’S THE ONLY PLACE OF BELONGING THAT YOU NEED!!!”

It’s in Him.

Crafted for Him, pursued by Him, belonging to Him.

I will never leave you, He promises.

Even when you make a mistake.

Seven times.

Or when you live in the past even though I have masterfully planned your future.

Even when you desperately search this whole wide world thinking that there must be something else that satisifies.

You will find that it was Me.

And only Me that does.

If you truly believe that I am who I say that I am and you know that I am with you always, why or whom do you fear?

Friends, I don’t know about you, but I am certain that there is not a more comforting promise in this life.

Even when we “feel” alone, we are not.

The God of angel armies is always by our side.

Our place of belonging is in His arms and it is an unwavering shelter, no matter the storm we are facing.

Be aware of His presence in your life today.

Live as if you know, because you do, that He is with you always.

Walk forward and do not be afraid.

He is by your side.

And Jesus is jacked, so get it together, move forward and be confident that you have a constant bodyguard that trumps all the others

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.” -Deuteronomy 31:6

Short and sweet— whatcha been doing this morning? Have you developed a healthy routine when your mind wakes up and your feet hit the floor that will ensure a peaceful and productive rest of your day? I have always known how important it is to start your day in ways that provide energy, strength, and focus for the hours that follow…but it felt so difficult. It required some changing of habits and some rearranging of my schedule. It...

Goodbye to guilt & receive His grace.
Goodbye to guilt & receive His grace.

I used to believe that guilt was holy in a way. It showed that I knew what Jesus was asking of me in a moment or that I knew something I should’ve done or been, and I regretted not being/seeing/doing that. Maybe it’s guilt over not being the best daughter you can be. Or brother, wife, husband, friend, sister, etc. Maybe it’s those words you said about a coworker in the heat of the moment that you didn’t...

Speak them out loud.
Speak them out loud.

May 29, 2018

I remember sitting in a conference a couple years ago and the speaker said, “Tell yourself out loud! Speak it over yourself but give it volume!” And I’m thinking, “I have never done that, consistently at least.” I was also thinking, “Is that like a true difference-maker? The whole giving it volume, making sure your own ears hear it thing?” Well, joke’s on me because I have noticed, over the big and the small things, that when I...
