Silencing the megaphone.

silencing the megaphone
Do you ever wake up and you are just consumed in emotion?!?!

Like, from the word go, your mind is telling you, “I AM SO ANXIOUS RIGHT NOW, CLEERE!”

It’s Monday, the start of another work week, the holidays have come and gone and your brain has successfully purchased another ticket to the old ride, “emotional rollercoaster” and you’re on your way up the first loop.

Guess what?

Those emotions do not have to rule you or govern your day!

I know what you’re thinking—“No way?!?!?!! You mean, just because my heart is feeling a certain way or my brain has gone off an emotional tangent, I don’t have to actually run with it?”

Whatever emotion has been gripping you, consuming you and tugging at your ability to be in the present moment, you can choose to lay it down. Whether it be anxiety, fear, bitterness, jealousy, hurt, negativity or something else, your Jesus has already spoken a louder word over your day.

YOU, friend, do not have to “feel” so heavily every emotion that comes into your mind but rather you can let it serve as your reminder to come to the Cross. You can let the emotions remind you of your frailty, of your vulnerability when you face your day alone, of your necessity and ultimate dependence on the One who is always greater than your emotions- Jesus!

I am queen of rehearsing how I feel sometimes.

If I wake up anxious, I feel the need to tell everyone around me.

“Good Morning, Cleere! How are you today?” someone chirps.

“OMG I AM SO ANXIOUS! I hate this feeling” I respond with, as if it’s like this paralytic condition I’ve been given and can do nothing about!

The more I rehearse it or tell myself how I FEEL, the less I am able to see the truth of the situation. The more I decide that my emotions rule my day, the less I am able to see each adverse or unforeseen circumstance as an opportunity to rely on my Jesus.

Y’all, we simply can’t afford to let our emotions claim our days or our minds or our hearts or our decisions.

Your Jesus has already told you, “Greater am I that is in YOU than he that is in this world” (1 John 4:4).

Do you trust Him? Do you trust His hand to guide you, no matter how treacherous and bumpy the road ahead seems? Do you trust His promises for your life? Do you trust His light to permeate every situation you encounter? Do you trust what He has told you—“The best is YET to come for you”?

We are always being shaped, molded, chiseled and refined to be more like our Heavenly Father. I don’t know about you but that’s what my prayer is for life everyday: “More of Him, less of me. “

Let’s choose to trust the King with our day, okay? Whatever is on your mind, whatever comes down the pipeline today, whatever adverse circumstances you face and whatever emotion has knocked on your door this morning, let’s choose to listen to the voice that is always louder – Jesus.

It’s going to be a GREAT day! Praying for you
