Take those bricks out.

Take those bricks out.

Mondays tend to sound a lot like– “ugh”, “I’m tired”, “Feeling anxious”, “I’m not ready for this week!”, or “I’m already ready for Friday”…any of those sound familiar? A few maybe even slipped out of your mouth this morning?

A lot of Mondays feel heavier than other days, like we have stopped to put some bricks in our book bag before starting off on our adventure. When thinking about this, I started to wonder….Do you think it’s because we are holding onto things that He has asked us to release? Maybe triggered by this past weekend’s happenings, stress of the week ahead or just emotional hardship that we have signed up for and the Lord has continually said, “Hey, would you like My peace instead?”

What does it look like to travel lightly? To be firmly planted in Him, but in a way that doesn’t anchor us to the stress and the struggle and the shame in a way that shackles our ability to take on our day?

Is there something on your heart or filling your mind that is preventing you from experiencing peace? Is there an issue or a concern that you know the Lord wants you to let Him handle but you’re obsessively worrying about it anyway?

Release it! Let. That. Thing. Go! Empty those bricks out of your bookbag. Let your steps be light and your rhythm be grace. Move freely in Him and trust that what you release into His care is always being taken care of, okay?

Let’s replace those “ugh” Monday feelings with a deep breath and a big ‘ol “THANK YOU” for another day.

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” -Hebrews 12:1

I have always known how important it is to start your day in ways that provide energy, strength, and focus for the hours that follow…but it felt so difficult. It required some changing of habits and some rearranging of my schedule. It...

Goodbye to guilt & receive His grace.
Goodbye to guilt & receive His grace.

I used to believe that guilt was holy in a way. It showed that I knew what Jesus was asking of me in a moment or that I knew something I should’ve done or been, and I regretted not being/seeing/doing that. Maybe it’s guilt over not being the best daughter you can be. Or brother, wife, husband, friend, sister, etc. Maybe it’s those words you said about a coworker in the heat of the moment that you didn’t...

Speak them out loud.
Speak them out loud.

May 29, 2018

I remember sitting in a conference a couple years ago and the speaker said, “Tell yourself out loud! Speak it over yourself but give it volume!” And I’m thinking, “I have never done that, consistently at least.” I was also thinking, “Is that like a true difference-maker? The whole giving it volume, making sure your own ears hear it thing?” Well, joke’s on me because I have noticed, over the big and the small things, that when I...
