The leaves will always change.

the leaves are changing
Fall.

Leaves are changing, the smell of pumpkin spice fills the air and the air is crisp. We open our planners to realize that another season is upon us and the days are passing quickly. Then unfortunately enough, autumn will have to leave, taking our leaves with him and winter will be showing his face soon.

And before we blink, it will be 2016 and we will be pondering what goals we want to set for ourselves in the new year.

Isn’t it crazy? How long some days feel but in reality, how quickly they pass?

I was reflecting on some things that plagued my mind with worry back in June and guess what? I can hardly remember all the details as of today. And then I am reminded of situations or hardships that felt all-consuming a year ago and I am not really sure how those even dissolved.

It’s like, the Lord just took care of me. (Shocker). You would think after so many years of provision, the irony would wear off or I would take a hint for the future.

But I think the Lord is reminding me of that truth right now- During the season itself, it does feel all-consuming. It does feel worrisome. It does feel heavy and scary and uncertain.

Why? Because that is your REALITY. It’s staring you in the face and you feel forced to focus on it, as if your feet are cemented to the ground and you can’t seem to stand in a new place that offers a different perspective.

The tight finances or the impossible study regimen you have; the disjointed family or the unexpected baby on the way; the addiction you’ve developed or the toxic relationship you’ve stayed in—whatever it may be. The weight on your shoulders has whispered in your ear that this is forever. That even if your circumstances change, this will always be who you are.

And then JESUS.

In all His sweetness and in all His grace and in all His compassion, He rescues you and He turns the page.

Sometimes, even the good seasons need to end so that the best can come.

He opens your eyes and the leaves start to change color again and the autumn winds brush against your face and you are reminded, a new season is always promised.

Your feet lift up and you begin to climb the mountain, realizing it was only tall because of where you stood. You were always capable of crossing over it.

Sweet friend, whatever season you are in, whether it feels full of trials or triumph, you can take heart knowing that your Heavenly Father is always making things new. He says the best is YET to come. It has not already passed, it is ahead!

Life is FULL of so many emotions and circumstances but there is a constant truth that will always prevail for you: The sun will rise tomorrow, there is provision for you in this season AND the very best is ahead.

Let’s choose to take a lesson from our past- He is faithful! Instead of letting the season consume you, let the Maker remind you- this is just a season.

Be joyful. Today REALLY is worth celebrating!

(p.s. It’s FRIDAY…. Like you didn’t already know that )

“I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race. He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live.” -Ecclesiastes 3:10-12

Short and sweet— whatcha been doing this morning? Have you developed a healthy routine when your mind wakes up and your feet hit the floor that will ensure a peaceful and productive rest of your day? I have always known how important it is to start your day in ways that provide energy, strength, and focus for the hours that follow…but it felt so difficult. It required some changing of habits and some rearranging of my schedule. It...

Goodbye to guilt & receive His grace.
Goodbye to guilt & receive His grace.

May 30, 2018

I used to believe that guilt was holy in a way. It showed that I knew what Jesus was asking of me in a moment or that I knew something I should’ve done or been, and I regretted not being/seeing/doing that. Maybe it’s guilt over not being the best daughter you can be. Or brother, wife, husband, friend, sister, etc. Maybe it’s those words you said about a coworker in the heat of the moment that you didn’t...

Speak them out loud.
Speak them out loud.

May 29, 2018

I remember sitting in a conference a couple years ago and the speaker said, “Tell yourself out loud! Speak it over yourself but give it volume!” And I’m thinking, “I have never done that, consistently at least.” I was also thinking, “Is that like a true difference-maker? The whole giving it volume, making sure your own ears hear it thing?” Well, joke’s on me because I have noticed, over the big and the small things, that when I...
