Time to Recalculate.

August 23, 2012

I’ve always heard that God is like a GPS because He will always direct you where to go.

While I believe that saying, I think there is a much more relevant part to this similarity.

As I drove to work this morning and took a few (for the sake of my pride) wrong turns, I would hear Rupert (my GPS’s name) re-directing me.

“Recalculating…recalculating…Now turn left on…” etc etc. You get the point.

Anyway, I started thinking, I GET IT! God IS so much like aGPS! And while it is because He directs us on the right path, it is more so about His ability to redirect, refocus and recalculate.

It doesn’t matter where we are or where we’ve been.

It doesn’t matter how many times we have refused to listen to the suggested route and go our own way.

Our stubbornness does not determine his faithfulness.

Wow.

Soak that in. YOUR stubbornness does not determine HIS faithfulness.

You see, if we never got lost, we would never appreciate being re-directed and put back on course.

And unfortunately, we will all get lost. It doesn’t matter how much you think you got it going on, life will sometimes get the best of you. You are human. Simple as that.

But there is wonderful news for you: You have an eternal GPS that knows you will turn off course, even before you do so.

So, be encouraged. If you have strayed, do not spend your time worrying! Turn up on the volume on your GPS and give Rupert a little credit.

He has never steered you wrong before.

He doesn’t plan on starting to today.

Life is all about learning to recalculate and make the best of where you are.

So, roll down the windows and breathe a little. You may have your hands on that wheel but your heart has a much greater navigator.

Recalculate, my friend! You have a lot of road ahead

I have always known how important it is to start your day in ways that provide energy, strength, and focus for the hours that follow…but it felt so difficult. It required some changing of habits and some rearranging of my schedule. It...

Goodbye to guilt & receive His grace.
Goodbye to guilt & receive His grace.

I used to believe that guilt was holy in a way. It showed that I knew what Jesus was asking of me in a moment or that I knew something I should’ve done or been, and I regretted not being/seeing/doing that. Maybe it’s guilt over not being the best daughter you can be. Or brother, wife, husband, friend, sister, etc. Maybe it’s those words you said about a coworker in the heat of the moment that you didn’t...

Speak them out loud.
Speak them out loud.

I remember sitting in a conference a couple years ago and the speaker said, “Tell yourself out loud! Speak it over yourself but give it volume!” And I’m thinking, “I have never done that, consistently at least.” I was also thinking, “Is that like a true difference-maker? The whole giving it volume, making sure your own ears hear it thing?” Well, joke’s on me because I have noticed, over the big and the small things, that when I...
