World-Changer Population on Planet Me: Zero.

world doesn't revolve around you

Do you ever see quotes and think about them for a while?

Like, they just really hit home with you and make you think.

Well, this happened to me yesterday when I read a quote by C.S. Lewis that said:

“Humility is not thinking less of yourself, it’s thinking of yourself less.”

That’s just good right there.

I wanted to be like, “HAHA, SKIP! Didn’t see that! Next! Bye!”

But it made me start thinking…

Humility. Always been a hard word for me to define.

Until now.

Maybe what we THOUGHT was HUMILITY was actually REVERSE PRIDE?

Hang on with me here for a second.

The thing is, having a low self-confidence and allowing insecurity to plague our actions and daily lives does not mean we are people of humility.

Rather, it means that we are still thinking of ourselves, just in a negative light.

So, if pride is thinking too highly of yourself and your abilities, then maybe reverse pride is thinking too little of yourself and your abilities?

Because the reality is, whether the energy you are exerting focusing on YOU is positive or negative, it’s still on you.

Little ol’ lonesome me, having a pity party, being humble.

Well guess what? No one RSVP-ed. No cake or presents there, buddy!

Want to know why no one wants to come to your little get-together?

The perspective is still fixated on the word, “I”. (dangerous perspective to have!)

The thing is, saying “Oh man, I could never do that!”, “I’m just not talented enough!” or “I wish I was a better person” –NONE of those things come from a humble spirit.

That is reverse pride where the universe still spins around Planet Me.

I am no stranger to doing this in certain situations.

And Satan LOVESSSS for us to think we are being humble when really we are being prideful, egotistical and negative.

Harsh? Maybe.

But I think we need to revise these definitions in our minds.

Humility is knowing that without God, we are nothing.

We exist for Him, by Him and because of Him.

And because He is awesome, He allows us to do awesome things through Him!

Pride is believing that without God, we are something.

That we exist because of Him but that we can “do good” without Him.

(yeah right).

Thinking less of yourself is still thinking of yourself.

But thinking more of Jesus?

It takes our eyes off of US, both the positive and the negative, and allows our hearts and minds to be completely wrapped up in Our creator, who so desperately wants to use us!

Do not think less of yourself- not because it shorthands YOU, but because it shorthands THE ONE WHO MADE YOU!

You can live in humility and be completely confident in the plans God has for you.

Hellur, He wants you to be!

So, don’t think less of yourself. Think of yourself less and think of Jesus more.

Everything good in us comes from Him.

And I don’t know about you, but I want to change the world.

And just bein’ real, no world change happens on Planet Me.

Praying for y’all!

“In the same way, you who are younger, submit yourselves to your elders. All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” -1 Peter 5:5

Short and sweet— whatcha been doing this morning? Have you developed a healthy routine when your mind wakes up and your feet hit the floor that will ensure a peaceful and productive rest of your day? I have always known how important it is to start your day in ways that provide energy, strength, and focus for the hours that follow…but it felt so difficult. It required some changing of habits and some rearranging of my schedule. It...

Goodbye to guilt & receive His grace.
Goodbye to guilt & receive His grace.

May 30, 2018

I used to believe that guilt was holy in a way. It showed that I knew what Jesus was asking of me in a moment or that I knew something I should’ve done or been, and I regretted not being/seeing/doing that. Maybe it’s guilt over not being the best daughter you can be. Or brother, wife, husband, friend, sister, etc. Maybe it’s those words you said about a coworker in the heat of the moment that you didn’t...

Speak them out loud.
Speak them out loud.

May 29, 2018

I remember sitting in a conference a couple years ago and the speaker said, “Tell yourself out loud! Speak it over yourself but give it volume!” And I’m thinking, “I have never done that, consistently at least.” I was also thinking, “Is that like a true difference-maker? The whole giving it volume, making sure your own ears hear it thing?” Well, joke’s on me because I have noticed, over the big and the small things, that when I...
