Jesus, some days we show up already tired—
not just in our bodies, but in the deep places no one can see.
We’re carrying conversations we don’t know how to start,
grief we didn’t expect to hold,
and fears we’ve tried to outrun by staying busy.
We’re heartbroken by what’s happening in Texas.
The floods. The loss. Families walking through sudden tragedy that is truly too great to bear.
People waking up to an ache that won’t let them catch their breath.
And we don’t have words for any of it.
But we know You do. We KNOW that You’re meeting them in this.
Remind us that walking in joy and expectation as we war on their behalf and stand in the gap—those are weapons of worship! They do not cancel our awareness of the weight and the harsh reality of this new normal—they help us and others look for You in it.
You meet us all here- in this weird tension of being so incredibly thankful for this life and aware of the gift that is, while also being homesick for Heaven. To be with You. In our searching + striving, we try to make a perfect polished plan—all to be reminded that You thrive on detours.
We are all here, hungry for hope and hearts a little shaky, souls a little worn, but deeply aware that You are moving like wildfire through this world. Nothing can stop the Holy Spirit.
Remind us, Jesus: You’re not pacing the floor of Heaven, unsure of what to do. You’re not overwhelmed by the things that overwhelm us.
You’re here. Steady. Good. All-knowing. SO deeply kind.
Already moving in the moments we don’t yet know we’ll need grace for. We are so thankful.
Be near to the ones who feel undone.
Be near to the ones who feel forgotten.
Be near to the ones who don’t know how to pray right now. There is no formula—the answer is simply to come.
Come to You over and over and over again.
And so, we will. You have us.
We trust You, even here.
Especially here.
