Sleddy is clearly handling the countdown to November 10th more chill than I am 😂🤎 This was done on his own accord, btw 🤟🏻
But can I tell you something I’ve been thinking about SO much writing/editing/marketing Rooted, Not Rushed?
I know the title sounds like a book about slowing down, doing less, or managing your schedule differently. There is some of that but it’s about something SO much deeper.
It’s about becoming WHOLE (what does that even mean, right?)
I think we feel the tension of living so SCATTERED.
Our bodies are in one place, our minds are in twelve others, and our hearts are still trying to process something that happened yesterday. We’re sitting with people we love while mentally working through tomorrow, and then we feel guilty that we’re struggling to be present, which becomes ANOTHER thing we’re carrying.
We forget how interconnected we are. What we carry emotionally affects us physically, what we rehearse mentally shapes us relationally, and our proximity to Jesus influences it ALL.
It is wildly easy (and culturally rewarded!) to become consumed with BUILDING a good life while paying very little attention to what that life is producing IN us.
We can be pursuing really meaningful things and still become less patient and less attentive to the people right in front of us.
And I don’t say that to make us feel guilty. I say it because I think Jesus is inviting us into something so much richer than a life that simply looks good from the outside. HE IS SO DEEPLY COMMITTED TO WHAT IS INTERNALLY GOING ON INSIDE OF YOU!
I want to work hard without making work my identity.
I want to trust God with the slow work of healing.
I want to have a full life without feeling absent from it because I’m already in the next season.
And more than anything, I want the people closest to me to experience the fruit of my relationship with Jesus.
Take heart: The goal isn’t a perfectly quiet mind or an empty calendar. It’s a life increasingly rooted in Christ, where His presence changes how we experience everything else.
Have you preordered RNR? I hope you’ll consider it if not.
Life is too short to live it not prioritizing what ACTUALLY LASTS 🤍
