Healing isn't linear; it's layered.

The truth is: You would probably bypass the healing process if you could.
I mean, who wouldn’t? If you could press a button and skip the intricacies of the many layers required to sort through…it sometimes feels like you take two steps forward and then three steps back.
But healing isn’t a race to completion—it’s a relationship. Therefore, it is so much less about how long or complex the process is and more about the time that you get to be with the Healer…drawn in, held, fully aware that without Him, it would be impossible.

Life is one continual process of healing. Of restoration.
That’s not to say that you don’t experience complete healing or breakthroughs—God can do whatever He wants!!! But because this life is full of working and walking and working out complexities with other imperfect hearts, healing will always be necessary.
Spiritual maturity is to understand that the deep work will always be necessary. It is vital to not just surviving, but thriving in every season. It strengthens connections and taps into vulnerability that pride tries to evade or disrupt. It is the practical way of keeping the soil soft for God to deposit truth and remove weeds…that humility being the sealant of protection against weeds that want to steal the nutrients from our soul.

Talking to several friends lately- all walking through different things—and there is a common feeling of, “my steps feel…unsteady. Or uncertain.” Just feels a little hard.
And have been so reminded that God is absolutely, positively, completely, and fully sure of His.
Always.

He is rebuilding and He is fully committed to the process. He is NEVER scared of the timeline it requires…I can’t speak for Him but I don’t think there’s anything He believes in more. Yearns for more than that.

The more we understand that healing isn’t linear, the less we attach our contentment to expectations and the more we embed it in relationship. Intimacy. Devotion.

Heartbreak
Disappointment
Anxiety
Loss
Jealousy
Bitterness
Fear
Pain of any accord
Whatever it is, healing is what God does.
