Total and complete shock. I kept refreshing my phone thinking maybe this was a rumor that spread all too quickly until I realized…it wasn’t.
There was an assassination attempt on the former President of the United States. Others injured and the loss of an innocent person.
Things shifted in a matter of 2 minutes yesterday.
I am in no position to say much to this and yet…how do I not? I know we don’t need another voice adding to the absolute whirlwind of noise and panic; I prayed and prayed and prayed and I just keep hearing this, “A country on its knees can hear Me.”
Jesus.
We need Him so badly. Oh how we need Him. We are lost without Him in every possible way— but with Him, we are safe, secure, and settled despite every storm that hits the shores of earth.
.
It grieves me deeply that we have gotten so far past common decency, we let the political affiliations we hold determine whether we value another’s life.
The truth? It doesn’t matter how much we vehemently disagree with Trump or how great our allegiance is to him— if the events of yesterday do not send us to our knees, we should be terrified of the posture of our hearts.
Freedom was attacked. Democracy was attacked. The value of life was attacked.
.
I pray so deeply that this sends us to our knees, strips us of our pride that clearly isn’t trustworthy or helpful, wrecks our souls for what is evil, recalibrates us on what proactivity looks like, and begins to restore our land.
.
What if the thing that the enemy meant for evil could be the greatest unifying act of our country? With God, what was meant to destroy us can become a healing agent to our restoration of being better and stronger than before.
It is possible.
Are we willing to die to ourselves, walk humbly, love mercy, and fight for what is truly good?
.
I am so sad for our country but I am also deeply hopeful because I know the One who is not panicked. May we turn to Him.
Grateful for the protection of His hand until we get home.
God bless the United States of America 🇺🇸
