Limitations are opportunities

You know how when you look back and you can see how all the dots were connecting and how a tapestry was being woven together without you even realizing it?
Such is always the faithfulness of God.
We had the chance to meet with Dr. Alexander yesterday, whom we were introduced to through @designmattersnc as they raised funds for @fitch_pediatric_rehab . They are working to build a hospital that serves children with special needs, housing all their needs under one roof. OT, PT, speech, feeding, aquatic therapies—literally, my dream.

Dr. Alexander has a plethora of clinical experience working with kids with all kinds of special needs. You can tell he believes that “disabilities” simply provide supernatural strengths in others. Limitations are opportunities to learn, progress, and understand how the Spirit intercedes when our flesh is weak or unable.

So much of Sledge’s journey has been laced with wondering if we are even doing the right thing? There’s no formula. It’s a continual resetting our gaze on the Author of life + doing what we know, where we are.
I know that’s the nature of humanity though, isn’t it?
The uncertainty invites the gift of dependence.

Watching him interact with Sledge felt like they were speaking their own language. Sledge’s eyes continually reflecting the thought, “Mama, he gets me!”—God does that for all of us, doesn’t He?
We all need a tribe. People who understand what we can’t yet discern or vocalize and believe in the God in us.

I’m so grateful for every person who has been + is part of our tribe.
I’m so grateful for medical professionals who see their place as a calling, not a career.
I’m so grateful for Sledge’s JOYFUL willingness to participate in the hard moments and be pushed outside his comfort zone.
I’m so grateful that baby steps really do move mountains.
I’m so grateful for the power of prayer.
I’m so grateful for people who recognize a need and work relentlessly to meet it.
I’m so grateful for the eternal perspective my little boy has given me.
I’m so grateful for the breath of life.
I’m so grateful that our God operates in the miracle business every single day. It’s WHO HE IS 🤍
