Need to start today over?

on August 07, 2024

Maybe today started off on the wrong foot? It could be several specific things that threw it off course or it could be just the overall feeling—you deemed it “not your best day” and you took that for what it’s worth.
Maybe you started out feeling rushed and that has impeded into everything else,
Maybe you went to bed too late and your morning routine was affected and now you’re frustrated,
Maybe someone said something or your spouse reacted to you in a way that offended you and now you’re just irritated,
Maybe traffic was bad or you spilled your coffee or WHATEVER it is that the enemy is trying to make a MOUNTAIN, don’t you dare let it.

Did you know that at any point, you can begin again?
Truly.
At any moment, you can restart.
You can stop and reassess what you need and what you don’t need for this day. You can let go of something you thought was important but is no longer serving you. You can pause life and gather your bearings. There is time.
Did you react rather than respond to someone this morning?
Did you bleed on someone else because you didn’t treat something you needed to before you started your day?
Say sorry. Immediately. Don’t keep going with that attitude or countenance or guilt from prior interactions. Readjust your sails, apologize, receive grace, and reposture your heart.

It is a powerful thing to realize that little moments don’t get to write the song for your entire day and hiccups don’t get to determine the pace, posture, or perspective you’ll hold as you run today’s race.

The people in your life need the BEST version of you—and that version isn’t always synonymous with the “quickest” or “most productive” or “most put-together” or “most impressive”—rather, the healthiest. The one committed realigning to priority Kingdom order, reestablishing your confidence on what God says, replacing any trash with truth, replanting your feet on solid ground, and redefining this day from “not your day” to “this is the day that the Lord has made—I will rejoice and be glad in it!”

Need a restart? Pause. Push the button. Welcome the Holy Spirit. He’s got you. He’s the best at second and third and fourth and 581th chances.
