There are seasons I’ve grieved unanswered prayers like they were losses.
I’ve replayed them, questioned them, wondered if God’s silence meant His absence or His indifference.
Even though I knew the truth, the circumstance felt harder, the tension felt longer, and the heaviness was more than I knew how to shoulder.
But when I look back now—on the doors that stayed shut, the relationships that never rekindled, the timelines that didn’t move when I begged them to, the healing that took longer and looked different than I thought—I see something I couldn’t fully see then:
Kindness.
I knew…but I also didn’t.
Even when I spoke life in faith, I couldn’t have predicted the kindness He would extend.
Not the kind that feels soft and sweet in the moment, but the kind that protects you from what you thought you wanted.
The kind that sees the full picture when you’re only holding one fragile piece.
The kind that waits to answer until you’re healthy enough, whole enough, steady enough to hold the blessing without it breaking you—or worse—breaking your soul.
I wanted the shortcut. I prayed for the character but the shortcut felt more impressive at the time.
I wanted the yes. The “rejection” stung but turns out, preparation was happening.
I wanted the instant relief, the approval, the comfort. Though I prayed for deep roots, navigating shallow waters felt so much…easier. Efficient. Explainable.
But God knew. He knew the root system I needed first and man would it take some time + many unanswered prayers.
He knew the deeper healing I wasn’t even asking for yet.
He knew that giving me what I wanted too soon would cost me what I ultimately needed:
Character. Maturity. Peace. Dependence on Him over outcomes.
So today, if you’re staring at a closed door…
If you’re wondering why the timeline won’t budge…
If you’re grieving the silence and fighting the surrender…
This is your reminder:
Sometimes the greatest kindness is the “no.”
Not because He’s withholding—but because He’s making room for better.
Better healing.
Better timing.
Better roots.
Better you.
Better LIFE.
He’s not ignoring you.
He’s protecting you.
And you’ll see it—just maybe not yet 🤍
