“Where are you?, God asked them.
Adam and Eve, naked in the garden, hiding behind fig leaves because of the choices they had made, knowing they had disobeyed the one voice that they could trust.
They didn’t even realize that it was shame; they just knew that their decision had robbed them of the freedom + peace they felt a moment prior.
God, the Knower of all and Protector of all, knew exactly where they were. Nothing is hidden from Him.
His hope, I believe, in that moment was to usher the authority back to Adam + Eve and call recognition to their own hearts.
His question behind the question: Why have you distanced yourself from me?
Because that’s the result of getting in misalignment with the will of the Father or misassigning value in a way that is disproportionate to the Kingdom.

Well, I think the tiny rectangular glowing screens that capture SO MUCH OF OUR ATTENTION are causing us to lose sight of where we are.
Our feet cant seem to grip the ground beneath us because we know it is shifting sand and we wonder why our cortisol levels are high as we walk on the eggshells of the world.
We know the contentment that is promised in abiding with Him, yet we engulf ourselves in the ever-going happenings of those around us, wondering why we are tired before we ever begin our days.
And when we are somewhere, we want to capture it to show the world while wrestling internally with the question: “Am I fully here myself?”
Through overstimulation of water hydrants of information + suggestions + persuasion, we are numb to our own feelings + thoughts. Of course our creativity feels lacking + the finiteness of our flesh is loud; overwhelm + oversaturation are poor compositions for a healthy mind to breathe, learn, rewire, pivot, + grow.
I was talking to God about this holiday season + what I desperately want for my family and you know what I think will be my best preparation before + my implementation when it does?
Prioritizing His presence before getting in anyone else’s. And while this phone can help us + point us to the throne, it will always be a distraction from sitting at it.
PUT YOUR PHONE DOWN.
It might just save your soul 🤍
