Run with endurance by fixing your eyes on Jesus

I see a million things when I look at this picture.

I see JOY—the kind that hits deep in a father’s chest—the kind you feel before the hug even happens.
I see pure safety—the kind a little boy knows he’s running into…not just arms, but a place where he’s fully held.

I see hard-fought perseverance—the kind that’s been fought for in therapy rooms, in early mornings, and in so many moments no one else sees.

I see steps that didn’t come easy. Uneven ground. Him fighting for balance but so excited he thrusts himself onward. And his clear, loud voice yelling, “HOME, DA DA!” when words are often hard.
It’s the kind of progress that asks for courage most people will never have to think about.

I see uninhibited desire to be in close proximity, whatever it takes. Sleddy’s knees were hurting from his new braces but you wouldn’t know. ANYTHING to get in his daddy’s arms. And Will was ready to close any gap so all sledge had to do was extend his arms.

I see grit. The kind that shows up again + again, even when it’s slow. And hard. And easier not to. The kind I am taking notes from because I want to be more like him.

I also see the yearning and the grief that any of it is necessary—for how things that no one thinks about look different—but also, the truth that we wouldn’t change a thing. How can both be true?

I see prayers. So many prayers whispered, wrestled through, and held onto when outcomes felt uncertain. I see prayers canvassing them on both sides that echo from a mama’s heart. To both of them.

I see belief that isn’t logical. The surest lesson that faith is always most fortified through fire—the kind that’s found on your knees but is the foundation for how you stand.

And maybe more than anything…I see love that becomes strength.
I think that’s one thing I’m learning so much lately.
We all need STRENGTH. Strength to endure. Strength to show up when it’s hard or painful. Strength to see BEYOND here. Strength to release. Strength for today.

Hebrews 12 says to run with endurance by fixing our EYES on Jesus.
Why? Because what you look at shapes how you move.

THIS is how the Father looks at you—arms WIDE open, heart FULLY ready, + STRENGTH to hold you up.
