Stillness is where your roots learn WHERE to go.

Most of us don’t realize how much of our spiritual life is tied to our circumstances.

When things are quiet, we feel grounded.
When we have time, we feel connected.
When life feels manageable, our faith feels strong.

But the moment life speeds up—when the schedule fills, the pressure rises, or the unexpected shows up—everything starts to feel a little shakier.

Not because God moved. He’s immovable. But because you started drawing from something that was never steady to begin with 😣

It’s easy to build a life that runs on whatever is most available in the moment—your thoughts, your to-do list, other people’s expectations, + the pressure to figure everything out quickly.

But those things will never sustain you.

And if we’re honest, we can feel it when they don’t.
The tension. The mental noise. The low hum of anxiety you can’t quite name. You know you’re holding more than you were meant to carry.

Stillness isn’t just about slowing down your life.
It’s about RETRAINING your SOUL.
If your soul only draws from God when life slows down, it will struggle to stay steady when life speeds up.

I love the visual in Psalm 1 of a tree planted by streams of water—roots running deep, not dependent on the weather, but sustained by something constant beneath the surface.

That’s our riverbed.
Not our circumstances. Not our capacity. Not our control.
Him.

The truth? You don’t rise to your intentions in pressure—you fall to whatever has been sustaining you.

Stillness is where your roots learn WHERE to go. Or rather, to whom.
It’s where your soul practices drawing from Him when nothing feels urgent… so that when everything does, you’re not scrambling to find Him.

You already know the way back.
You don’t have to wait for a calmer season to feel close to God.
You don’t have to clean things up before you come to Him.

You can return—in the middle of allllllllll the mess!
And every return, no matter how small, is strengthening something deeper than you can see.

If this resonated at all with you, I unpacked this more deeply in today’s Substack—what it looks like to build a life that’s actually rooted + steady, even when everything around you isn’t 🤍 Free to read + subscribe.
