It’s so easy to get overwhelmed by the constant things we think we need to get done.
And some of it is absolutely necessary! A lot of it actually.
And then other parts? Not so much. Especially the additional mental gymnastics we add to the obstacle course just to make sure we really are emotionally agile.
And then we scroll and woahhh buddy, our list just got longer. Adding to the demands of the day, we tack on the feeling of being behind in comparison to our perceived assumptions of others timeline and success. Or the feeling of just restlessness—like there is more that we need in some capacity of our lives. More energy. More resources. More flexibility. More skin treatments (just me? lol).
It’s so NORMAL to live in a relative survival state internally, even when blessings abound externally.
Is it wisdom? No. Of course not. But I don’t think we realize we are being discipled by something other than Jesus in those moments.
I felt myself doing this the other day and then—and then—I got a FULL body, “MY MA MA” hug. You know, one that lingers and just touches a part of your heart you didn’t know was even weary. Like God using this precious soul to whisper, “Let Me remind you of what lasts beyond you.”
It gobsmacked me. I don’t know another word.
His teacher was laughing and said, “it’s like he hasn’t seen you in forever” 🤣
I was so undeserving of it and yet, Sledge unequivocally offered it.
It’s funny how the things that heal us also offer refinement in the same breath. They always show us where we were struggling to trust God or hesitant to hand something to Him. I’m so grateful for that.
What if today—THIS was the goal?
To run with such expectation of hugging our Father.
To fully engage with every part of us the One who can actually HEAL our souls.
To set our eyes on things above.
To let PEACE rule when we don’t get everything crossed off but we chose what mattered.
To welcome the JOY back in places that need fresh breath.
I don’t know. I wasn’t going to share this but I think I feel such a pressing for YOU and for ME to become people who let Jesus fully have His way with us.
Lord, help us be RICH in what lasts!!!
