Unity is everything. And it always starts at home.

We don’t usually drift in marriage because we stop caring.
We drift because we stop paying attention.

Life speeds up. Responsibilities stack. Emotional capacity shifts. And without realizing it, we begin loving from instinct instead of intention—offering what we would need or what we think they need, assuming it translates. Or we just get caught in the pace of life and stop being intentional.

But love, in its truest form, is not measured by what we MEANT. It’s measured by what was actually FELT.

That’s why this question is so powerful:
“What would help you feel supported by me this week—practically or emotionally?”

It slows everything down.
It moves love out of assumption and into understanding.
It gives your spouse language for what they’re holding—especially the things they haven’t even stopped long enough to name. So often, we don’t even know what we need until we’re asked.

Scripture calls us to “look not only to our own interests, but also to the interests of others” (Philippians 2). That kind of love isn’t automatic—it’s attentive. It listens. It adjusts. It stays soft enough to be shaped. It values unity over self-protection.

Here’s the reality: a lot of disconnection isn’t rooted in lack of love…it’s rooted in lack of attunement. And attunement requires humility—a laying down of self, of time, of convenience, of preferences.

But this is the way of Jesus: in the dying of ourselves, what we build is far greater—trust, safety, connection, + intimacy.

When you begin loving someone in a way they can ACTUALLY RECEIVE, love stops feeling theoretical and starts becoming TANGIBLE.

What if we focused more on how our love is received than how we think we expressed it?

Before assuming—we paused.
Before reacting—we got curious.
Before withdrawing—we asked. We stayed. We leaned in.

Life is wild. That won’t slow down. And drifting is slow…until it’s loud.
But when we build intentional rhythms of SEEING each other, we will realize it’s what our hearts have been longing for.

Unity is everything. And it always starts at home🏡
