We need roots in THIS season.

I think a lot of us are waiting for our lives to calm down before we decide to live differently.

After this deadline. After this trip. After this launch. After the kids get through this stage. After work settles down. After we finally get caught up.

Then we’ll slow down. Then we’ll be more present. Then we’ll spend more time with Jesus. Then we’ll figure out what actually matters.

But what if this IS the life we’re being formed in?

Not some future version where our calendars are spacious, everyone needs less from us, and we finally feel “on top of things.” This one. Right here.

And being rooted doesn’t mean we learn how to carry an unsustainable life with a better attitude. Actually, I think the opposite happens.

When we become rooted, we finally begin to recognize our true capacity.

We get clear enough to notice what God has actually asked us to carry and what we picked up because we were afraid to disappoint someone. What deserves our attention and what has just gotten used to receiving it. What needs a wholehearted yes, what needs a loving no, what needs to be picked up, and what we are finally free to put down.

That’s why we can’t keep saying, “I’ll get rooted when this season is over.”

We need roots in THIS season so we know how to live the next one.

We need to be with Jesus now so we can discern what is worth building, what is worth releasing, and who we are becoming while we do it.

That’s really the heartbeat behind Rooted, Not Rushed. Not learning how to cram more into already-full lives, but becoming deeply rooted enough that our lives can actually be shaped by what matters most.

Because while we’re working so hard to build a life AROUND us, something is constantly being formed IN us.

And maybe the shift we keep waiting for doesn’t begin with a different calendar, a different capacity, or a different season.

Maybe it begins when we stop asking, “When will life give me room?” and start asking, “What is this way of living doing to me?”

Because we are being formed either way.
