Yesterday reminded me: Jesus is not hard to find.

on December 08, 2025

I go back and forth about posting certain things regarding Sledge and his story, especially this one, because words will fail me. It was terrifying and beautiful and heart-wrenching and healing to witness the Great Physician do what He does.

No need for every detail, but yesterday Sledge had a seizure and went completely lifeless. Unresponsive, turning blue, body fully limp, not breathing. It was like he left his eyes — a look I’ll never forget. When EMS arrived, his temp was still extremely high, but he was becoming responsive, and his fighter spirit showed up despite utter exhaustion. After countless tests, we were discharged today, and he’s resting in his own bed tonight.

The Christmas season fills quickly with to-do’s and trying to “keep up”… and yesterday, everything shifted. Nothing else mattered as I screamed to Jesus, “PLEASE let me keep him. I won’t ever ask for anything else.” Begging.

But from the moment he sucked in a huge gulp of air and “came to,” it felt like a miracle on replay.
The 911 dispatcher calmly guiding us.
The EMS workers + emergency doctors whose compassion and excellence steadied us.
Family pressing in, praying, declaring life.
A pediatrician who cares for Sledge like his own son.
Friends who showed up before I even knew they knew — bringing coffee, picking up our house, checking in nonstop.
Neighbors dropping off the sweetest gifts.
Specialists who listened and helped us understand.
Grandparents kissing his little feet and speaking life back into him.
My husband, steady and brave as we faced our worst fear.
And my little boy… who keeps showing me what it means to be a warrior of faith.

Yesterday reminded me: Jesus is not hard to find.
He is in the people who run toward pain.
He is in the breath that returns.
He is in the strength that shows up when the bottom falls out.

This is my Christmas gift for the next 42,958 years — to have him home with us. And if you’re walking through something heavy right now, hear this from someone who met fear face-to-face yesterday: look for Jesus. He is closer than your breath, kinder than your fear, and doing more than you can see.
