You don't have to obsess over your calling

I don’t think we mean to do it.
It’s normal, honestly. This language of saying things like, “I’m just not sure what God is calling me to,” or “I want to obey Him but I just haven’t gotten clarity on what that looks like yet.”
And then your conversations slowly morph into being centered around your uncertainty about what God is doing or where He’s leading; yes, it comes out of a holy desire to adhere to His lead but also falls under the assumption that He is a God of confusion. Or that the mystery is your business right now—rather than the trust.
OR that maybe the mission He’s calling you is the exact one you’re stewarding. And to be honest? You’re a little tired of it. Worn out by it. Unimpressed by the caliber of the work or the “smallness” of how it appears.

Maybe the Holy Spirit is asking you to lean into your idea of “small” and what you deem “rewarding”…maybe He wants to redefine those.
Sometimes, when we are forced to remain where we are or there isn’t clarity about what’s next, it helps us remember that loving God and loving others right where we are actually IS the call!!!!

Does God speak to us about specifics? You bet He does. But He often helps our hearts hangout in the unknown long enough to recognize we’ve made an idol of the specific.
Has the calling consumed us more than His heart?
Are we worshiping where we are going instead of what His heart is telling us? We often assume they’re the same but one focuses on our feet and the other sits at His.
One welcomes peace into the mystery; the other ferociously tries to remove the fog.
One understands that the mundane IS the ultimate ministry—to recognize that the internal treasures of people far outweigh the external treasures we can hold is the transformative truth of the Gospel. It alters everything.

You’re not going to miss what’s for you when you’re locked in on the One who guides, shepherds, helps, restores, affirms, + adores you.

TODAY—where you are—are you loving Jesus? Are you loving others? It’s impossible to separate the two.
THIS is purpose!
