These are the days you'll miss

on January 14, 2026

His little hand tapped mine and his big eyes looked into my face.
“Ma-ma… air-pane.”
We stood there watching an airplane cut through the clouds, slow and steady across the sky.

I took in everything—the way he formed his words, the size of his small hands in mine, the soft click of his braces, the sunshine doing something gentle to our tired souls.

That morning wasn’t supposed to look like this. He was supposed to be at school. I was supposed to be in two meetings. The plan changed. I canceled, rescheduled, shifted the to-do list to another day. And if I’m honest, I fought the feeling of defeat that comes when a day doesn’t cooperate with your expectations.

I hurried through moments. I tried to be present while mentally elsewhere. Two places at once—something we all attempt, even though it never works.

And then this moment. Watching planes pass by.
A quiet mercy from my Heavenly Father.

Don’t miss this—this day, this season, this detour. The blessing hidden inside today.

We’ve all seen the memes about wanting these days back, and as cliché as it sounds, it’s true. Stress, overwhelm, and exhaustion distort our perspective. Blessings start to feel like burdens. Responsibilities feel heavy instead of holy.

Somewhere along the way, we confused a full plate with a fulfilled one—stacking whatever fits instead of prioritizing what restores us.

There’s something deeply steadying about choosing what matters, even when it requires dropping, pivoting, reordering, or letting go.

And don’t let the enemy turn this season into a future soundtrack of regret. The best way to honor the past is to fully embrace the present—and to recognize what you do have control over.

Open your senses.
Take inventory of this season.
Notice God’s hand.
Laugh.

Take God seriously—but stop taking yourself so seriously. Reverence and joy were always meant to dance together.

What truly saddens the soul isn’t the hard or painful things—those can deepen us. It’s numbness to life. Even grief expands our capacity to love and feel.

So look up! Take in the features of those you love. Voice your gratitude. Throw a dance party. Walk in discipline. Worship! Cry if you need it.
Just don’t miss it.
