Time is the great evener

Looking at the day ahead and the general demands of this season, you feel tired before you put your feet on the floor. You show up and you live and you do and you champion yourself to be present but you can’t help but wish things could speed up a little bit. You’re certain the weight will become less up ahead so you want to fast forward the clock just a little.
But with each bend that you come to in the road, you look back and you realize the riches that were being planted, the faith that was being fortified, the strength that was being revealed, and the beautiful tapestry that God was weaving.
You get a little irked with yourself that you kept trying to plan every future moment while forgetting that you were constantly in the midst of a memory you’d prayed to experience. You try to put these videos together in your mind of the little moments and the funny happenings and the quirky gestures and the togetherness and the growing up of the people and places you love around you and you realize—man, there is nothing more real than the brevity of time.

You know the meme that talks about savoring the summers you have left with your kids or the other sad songs that talk about how it’s all gone in the blink of an eye…while somewhat true, it can also be debilitating. Because the truest thing? You will get some of it wrong. You will squander moments you want to rewind. But then you’ll learn. You’ll receive the heapings of grace from the Creator Himself and you’ll take this newfound, supernatural revelation of the ticking hand into the future as you stress less and savor more.

All I’m saying is this—today will have its challenges. They all do. And some seasons will feel more preferential or purposeful. But with Jesus? They’re all meaningful. And the people, including you, around you are all changing. You must be present—not because there’s guilt in anything else—but because life is too good not to be 🤍
Even when the 20 second walk you take outside your car to get your kid from the back feels like a vacation—even those days can be savored ☺️
